FOURTH OF JULY PET SAFETY TIPS!

FOURTH OF JULY PET SAFETY TIPS

Fourth of July has lots of fun to bring! BBQ’s, swimming, driving up to a lake or attending just one of many local Fourth of July celebrations. But do our pets like the Fourth of July?

Well, the truth of the matter is, most pets do not like the Fourth of July.

Why does my pet hate the Fourth of July? There are many reasons. For example; loud noises can frighten your pets.  It is safer and less stressful for your pet if you leave him at home rather than taking him to a Fourth of July fireworks celebration.
Below are just a few things you can do to help keep your animals safe. Please feel free to “Comment” on this post if you have your own cool ideas! We’d love to share them!
Fourth of July Pet Safety Tips

1. Keep your pets away from Sparklers, BBQ’s and Citronella Candles. If you can’t supervise your pet at all times it’s better to keep him indoors where he will be safe. Secure him in a quiet, pet proofed room with a TV playing or soft music to alleviat…

Coyotes In Town?

Thank you Az Pet Professional, Sabrina, for a great Blog Post!!

I often get calls from people who think that their dogs are safe from coyotes because they have a 6-foot fence, or they live in a more densely populated section of Gilbert. True, most coyote sightings are in South Gilbert, but don’t be lured into a false sense of security.

When food sources dry up, when water sources disappear, when the coyote population booms, they will go to where the food is!

I watched it happen in the VERY densely populated area of Southern California where I used to live.

Protecting outdoor pets in excessive heatWhat can you do?What would you do?

Below are just a few of the hundreds of posts now familiar to many thanks to local News Channels, about a Facebook Page that was created out of concern for Chandler dogs who have been tied outside in the excessive heat without proper food, shelter, water.

" It's so sad because the problem is they don't do anything until it's too late.. These dogs don't pick the people the people pick these dogs.. I truly wish somebody would go in there and gather those dogs.. more and more people should get involved because it is our business to save these animals.. they can't save themselves.." Private name

"I'm one of many, who is concerned about several dogs being left outside without clean water, enough shade and with EXTREME weather conditions. Something has to be done about this!! " Private name

Pets afraid of the monsoons

ARIZONA MONSOONS
What you can do for pets who are afraid of them.Is your Dog or Cat afraid of the Monsoons? Unfortunately we know of many pets who are.
In fact some pets are so afraid that they need help from their veterinarian by taking a prescription sedative or the likes of comfort wear such as the Thunder Shirt.  If your pet is afraid of the Monsoons and you've tried everything then you may want to schedule an appointment to see if your vet can help. Medicating our pets is certainly an option we want to avoid if at all possible but for some may be the last option. Check out our amazing veterinarians!

Together, we've compiled some tips for the storm season that might help ease your pet's fears with the loud noises that accompany the monsoons.

Desensitize or counter conditioning You can do this by creating your own loud noises and making sure your pet gets a treat during these times assuring him that LOUD can beokay.  Try something healthy and tasty like famous Furbabies Trea…
